Our Kindle Review

Weight – The brand new Kindle 3 has improved a great deal from its previous models.  First of all, it is much lighter.  This is a important to keep in mind, because you don’t want to be strain your hand holding your e-book for an extended period of time.  This is one advantage over the nook.

Contrast / Readability – Speaking of straining, the new Kindle 3 has the best contrast of any e-book on the market today.  This is also very important, because you don’t want to be straining your eyes if the lighting is poor.  This is another great feature the Kindle 3 has over the Nook.  Many people enjoy reading before bed, or in lighting that isn’t very bright, and the Kindle makes this very easy on your eyes.

Ease of Use - Another important factor to consider is how easy it is to use, navigate, and how quickly someone can learn to use it.  The Kindle has many different functions that make it very easy to use.  Since it is so user friendly, anyone can pick this up and learn how to use it.  You can change fonts (see the picture to the left) to make it very easy on your eyes, so you aren’t straining to see the words.

Speed – Which one is faster?  Kindle is faster as well!   The actual page turning speed isn’t the issue.  Navigating to different chapters, or to pick out a new book is where the Kindle 3 picks up the award in this category. Also, you can download new books in mere seconds with the Kindle 3.

Battery Life – While the battery of the Nook can be replaced easily, you have to charge it much more frequently – every few days.  On the other hand, the Kindle’s battery life lasts a a lot longer – probably weeks for most people, and doesn’t need to be replaced for a few years.  Since the battery life lasts so long on the Kindle, it also wins in this category.

Storage Space – This is the closest battle between the new Kindle and the Nook, but the Kindle 3 takes the edge.  It does because you can easily keep dozens of books, songs, and more on it without needing to delete anything to make space.  Also, since the Kindle 3 is so fast, even if you have to delete it, you can re-upload it in seconds.

Kindle vs Nook Winner?  The New Kindle!

Hands down the new Kindle 3 is the best e-book on the market.  Light, fast, easy to use, and the best contrast you can find in an e-book on the market today!

If you read a good amount, especially newer books, you will end up saving money in the long run!  That is because many of the Kindle books are much cheaper than hardcover books.  Also, several books are free, which is a great way to read some of the classics without driving to the library (especially when gas is so expensive!) and seeing it checked out.

Nook vs Kindle

We like to think it is an obvious choice for most people when considering which e-book to buy, after reading our review.  The Kindle is a great purchase, because the new Kindle has so many additional features.  Kindle for PC is possible too, so you can read your favorite books on your laptop.  A Kindle is a great investment for those of us who love to read, because so many books these days are available in e-book format.  The Kindle 3 is the new Kindle, so make sure you don’t buy an outdated version.  Our Kindle reviews are a mixture of our own opinions and the opinions of other trusted people.

We will be reviewing both the Kindle 4 and Kindle 5 as soon as they come out.  The Amazon Kindle continues to dominate the e-reader book market so there is no reason why a Kindle 4 should not be on it’s way.  If you’re wondering where to buy Kindle, just click the highlighted blue links!  The best place to buy Kindle is at Amazon, and grab the 2 year warranty too!  These reviews are for the Nook vs Kindle 3 also, in case you are confused on which version we are talking about.  I think the Kindle pad is coming out soon, or so I hear on the tech blogs!  The cheapest Kindle is probably the used Kindle, if you can find one.  Amazon Kindle reviews are all over the place so don’t limit yourself to just our Amazon Kindle review, which is unbiased, but the more you know, the better.  Also, be aware that there is no free Kindle unless you want one as a gift!  If you can find Kindle discounts or a Kindle coupon, go for it!

When comparing the Kindle vs Nook, we thought the overall decision for most people should be pretty easy.  We titled our page Kindle vs Nook, because we wanted to show that the Nook is not the better choice for those of you still on the fence.  Our Kindle review was based upon our own personal experiences with the Kindle vs Nook and the experiences of other people.  Based on these, our Kindle review is still our own opinion, and does not reflect any scientific or unbiased study.  Every Kindle vs Nook comparison was made using our own criterion, and what we though most people would want.  Even though our Kindle review may seem biased, it probably is a bit, because we love our Kindle 3!  The Kindle 3 is a great device, and we love that we can read a lot of different books for free!  Kindle vs Nook is just our opinion on whether or not the Kindle 3 is better, because we didn’t review the Kindle 2 or Kindle DX.  We all look forward to the new Kindle 4, or the Kindle 4, which should be the next Kindle coming out.  The only place you need to get a Kindle Review is here!
